March basically means Summer here in Los Angeles and while we are looking forward to the beach days, the iced coffees, and the little extra color on our skin that the California sun blesses us with so early in the year, we are finding ourselves not quite ready to part with our cable-knit sweaters. Maybe it is because we feel like we missed out on the romantic and snowy winter that our friends in New York and Chicago complain about. Maybe it is because we just invested in new hunter boots in preparation for the LA storm. Or maybe we are just nuts. Either way we are having a hard time letting go and that is why we are talking hygge.
Hygge is a Danish term that translates to coziness, but goes well beyond that. The term is considered a lifestyle, one in which the Danish have perfected and been practicing for years. Hygge is being curled up in a blanket in front of the fireplace, reading a book with a glass of merlot, or bundling up and venturing out into the rain to find shelter and warmth at a local coffee shop. As you already know, we love all things Danish (hey HAY), and this hygge lifestyle is one that we want to keep.
As we desperately try to grasp at our last few days of hygge (hey...62 degrees IS cold), we turn straight to our candles, oversized mugs, silk button up pajamas that we have been basically living in, and the soft, fuzzy blanket that will stay draped over our shoulders, and dragged across our apartment as we get up only to refill our mugs. Some of you might think we are crazy for wanting to hold on to winter for a little longer- but if you are on our side, we have the essentials that you need.
